Tips on how to be a SOOPER Stitcher or a better human being in general ... if you dont fancy sewing

Well Hi!

I taught the first day of my SuperStitchers class today.
That's Super Stitchers not Superstitions class.
That would be fun, a class in Superstition.

SING IT STEVIE BABY! SING IT!

Superstition is a credulous belief or notion, not based on reason or knowledge. The word is often used pejoratively to refer to folk beliefs deemed irrational. This leads to some superstitions being called "old wives' tales". It is also commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luck, prophecy and spiritual beings, particularly the irrational belief that future events can be foretold by specific unrelated prior events.

BLIMEY!
Sounds complicated ... think I will stick to sewing.
OBVIOUSLY, I have a lurvely group of ladies ... 14 including me.... and today we were revving up our sewing rockets and racing along the canvas highway.
As usual we began with a bit of a chat, well, me doing most of the talking as usual ... harping on about creativity, what it is, how we can harness it and master our machines, our lives and our men.
HA HA HA! Very funny Louisa.

ANYWAYS... I thought today that maybe we could all do with a little more VA VA VOOM and WAP BAM BOOGIE in our lives..... SO here is what I said to the girls.  Make of it what you like but remember .. its only me talking and you will probably think I have turned into a right old HIPPIE!  Yeah man ... pass the wacky backie this way Murtle. (I didn't tell you we all get totally stoned first did I? Well we do.)

Lou Beale's deep and, meaningful thoughts.

Aim of the workshop…. to strip away preconceptions about who you are creatively, where you have got to,  what you are good at, what you are bad at, what are you capable of, how do you judge yourself? … bla bla bla … lets start from scratch.  Can you be in the moment without looking backwards or forwards, planning and thinking…. Is it possible to just be in the now?  Right now.  Here and now… now nee now now.
Physically and Emotionally.  Its a lot less stressful…. when you take one step at a time and as it says in the poem / prose Desiderata (might have spelt that wrong) ' Don't worry yourself with imaginings….. '
SO … this is extremely important when it comes to being creative .. a sense of perspective and a foot in the present.  An awareness of body AND Mind joining together in creative harmony  … jezzzzoooss Chips… what on earth am I going on about?

Yeah man yeah .. so get your mind and get your body and fuse man.

So that's the first bit done.

Now right, You need to think about contentment.
What would it feel like if you walked around feeling content for the whole day?

Whoaaaa.
That's good. Well done.

So, we want to feel content and push ideas of negativity away … gently gently … push push push.
We want to harness our creativity and use it is a channel of positivity and express our emotional selves without worrying about what we produce or whether the persons drawing next to you is better than yours.  It probably is.
But only in YOUR eyes! Yeah man.  This is good.

So Key words in the SUPERSTITCHERS WORKSHOP….
Repeat after me….

RELAXATION!  YEAH!
RHYTHM!  YEAH!
POSITIVITY!  WOO!
CALM AND FOCUS!
PHYSICALITY! WOO!
LOOSENESS AND FLUIDITY! YEAH!
CONCENTRATION!
ENERGY! YEAH!
STAMINA! WOOP!
PASSION! OWWW!
CHARACTER!
INDIVIDUALITY! WOO!
ROCK AND ROLL!

Try the following exercises.

1.  Stand naked in the middle of a shop shouting HALLELUJAH for half an hour  everyday for a week.  You may want to try different shops but at the end of each session, put your clothes back on and feel the sense of relief that surges through your mind and body.

2.  Get a very large piece of paper, a crayon, or a pastel, or a graphite stick and a large bottle of gin.  Get someone you trust to lock you in a room for 24 hours and see what you achieve from this wonderful exercise.
Reaches body, mind and soul.

3. Pick descriptive random adjectives and then dedicate a piece of paper to expressing these with a pen, Biro, crayon, pastel….. letting it quite literally become a visual expression of these feelings….
Words might be…..

Anger
Joy
Frustration
Light
Dark
Bucket
Sock

Place the drawings together at the end and study how many different marks you can make remembering that you must master your tools and push them in new directions in order to make them work for you.  Celebrate its strengths ad weaknesses and then have a sing along with your family.

THUS Edith the first lesson.

On another matter I decided to change the colours of my blog as much as I loved the black especially with the photos.... it was quite hard to read.  So I hope this is a little easier.  Feel free to ever say if you find this hard to read or frustrating.

I know that you can see some of the followers in this blog but I also know that a lot of very dear friends are also following and I would like to say BIG UP! to them .... Kirstles.... Bertles... Barnicles...... Tedsiculs......  and more.... This one was especially for you.

I am off for my MOTEL Dinner.  Wonder what it will be tonight?
